Edward H. Barnet

Edward Halley Barnet graduated with a B.A. in History and French Literature at the University of Alberta in 2009. He then moved to France, where he attended classes at the Institut d’histoire de la Révolution française, within the venerable institution of the Sorbonne (Paris 1). In 2011 he started a masters in History at Sciences Po Paris, and successfully defended his thesis on the Royal Academy of Sciences during the French Revolution in 2013. Here at Stanford, he has begun to expand his interests beyond l’hexagone; in general, he is fascinated by phenomena of knowledge creation, and how issues of epistemology intersect with broader, and narrower, social, political and cultural concerns. His current research focuses on the evolution of speculative music within natural philosophy in the 17th and 18th centuries in Western Europe.
